Thread Cutter, Singer 301

The Singer 301 originally came with a thread cutter attached to the presser foot bar. This stamped steel piece had a section on the top that was filed "sharp" so that if you drag a thread across the top of it and pulled down, it would cut the thread. Like all of these on the Featherweights and other Singers they are really more like thread manglers, but they do get the job done.

Many of them have been removed to make room for an accessory like a walking foot. If yours is missing here is a great way to replace it.
