Motor Bearing Installation Set
The upper bearing in the motors on the 301, 400, and 500 series Singers is a sealed bearing with no way to replace the grease in it. It is very common for these bearings to fail, resulting in moaning, whirring, or screeching when the motor runs. These bearings can be replaced but it is not an easy job without the proper tools. The bearing is an interference fit in the housing and on the motor shaft, and if you drive the bearing in not properly supported you will ruin the bearing before you ever run the motor.
This is a very nice set of tools and fixtures designed to aid in the removal and installation of these bearings. The set allows for holding the housing and driving the old bearing out, driving the new bearing in, and driving the shaft back into the new bearing. If you are going to be doing a number of these motors it will make the job much easier and reduce the risk of damage to the bearings.
We only have one more set of these tools and likely will not have any more, so order these now if you service these motors!
