Cord Set, Flat Prong with 110 Volt Plug

The Singer 221's and 222's for the US market with 110 Volt power have the terminal block on the machine and the cord set with the round prongs on the connectors. The Featherweights made in the UK for Europe and elsewhere with 230 Volt power have flat prongs on both the terminal block in the machine and the Bakelite plug on the cord set. They also have a different plug for the 230 Volt wall outlet. 

The 222's we get here in the US are mostly imported from Europe and are 230 volt. Owners must either use a big heavy voltage converter, or they elect to replace the motor and light bulb with 110 volt units. The wiring in the cord set on the foot controller is often suspect, with the rubber stain relief on the flat pronged connector having deteriorated and broken. Since there have not been replacement flat prong cord sets available, machine servicers and owners have had to either rewire their own cord sets, or replace them with the US round prong cord set, which requires removing and replacing the terminal socket on the machine to match. 

We really like the flat prong cord sets and the way they snap in to connect. So for those wishing to keep their 221 or 222 as original as possible, we now have a limited number of rewired flat-prong cord sets available!

These cord sets have been built up with good original Bakelite connectors, cleaned and checked for cracks. They have been professionally rewired with extra-long new modern wiring, and with shrink tubing to protect the cords at the plug and to act as strain relief. The connections for the foot controller are ring connectors with a short length of shrink tubing to protect each one. And finally, the wall plugs have been replaced with brand new US wall plugs which are easy to grasp and remove. So all you have to do is simply connect your foot controller, and plug it in to both your Featherweight and the wall. That's it!

At $84.95, the price compares very favorably to the cost of one of our premium cord sets with the original Singer Bakelite plugs ($36.95) plus an original Singer Bakelite terminal block ($44.95). And you get to keep your 221 or 222 original!

IMPORTANT - The flat prong connectors we use for these sets have to come from somewhere. If you send back your original flat prong cord set and the Bakelite connector is in good condition with no cracks, chips, or other damage we will issue your choice of a credit or refund for $25! We don't need the wiring, so you can simply cut off the wires an inch from the Bakelite connector and mail that back to us in a padded envelope.
