Clasp, for Singer 221 Featherweight Case
The clasp on the lid of the Featherweight cases is often found broken or with the spring failed. They are held in place by steel rivets which are difficult to remove with the case intact.
These replacement clasps have been removed from original cases by just sawing away a piece of the wood with the clasp and rivets still in place. You will have to remove the clasp from the wood and of course do the same on your case to replace it.
These are more common round-bottom latches from the US Singer cases. Sold as each with clasp only, no rivets or screws.
