Our teaching staff put their heads together to come up with a great variety of classes for you. There is something for everyone, beginner to advanced.

We’re out of the box this trimester with so many new things to introduce. New Aprons, Clothing and Quilt Classes. Everyone on staff is now teaching. So come on by and check out the fresh line up of diverse samples. Photos of all samples are included.

Betsy, Janile, Sharon & Shelley are here to help you get started and as always …. coffee and chocolate for you.

BEGINNING QUILTMAKING    
Sharon Wilhelm 6 two hour sessions $60 Beginner
This class will build a great foundation for quilting. In every class we will play with color. We will start with the fundamentals: hand piecing, accurate rotary cutting, machine piecing, appliqué, how to set the blocks in rows, attaching borders, batting and binding. This quilt will be hand quilted and there will be homework. 37” X 51” wall hanging.

INTERMEDIATE QUILTMAKING

This is a skills builder series of lessons and really great for anyone who wants to gain more confidence in their skills. You will be using your sewing machine, learning color study, fusible appliqué, appli-quilting, setting blocks on point, piping, scalloped borders, and machine quilting borders. It is a 52” x 52” wall hanging. *Out of sequence.

ADVANCED QUILTMAKING

You will learn accurate piecing, pieced borders, paper piecing, fusible batting, machine quilting and a new binding technique. There will be homework. * Out of sequence.

4-PATCH STACK    
Kelly Edwards One 5 hour session $45 Beg/Int/Adv
You can’t get any easier than a 4-patch! Add stack-and-whack to a 4-patch and you have this easy and fun 4-Patch Stack quilt! It’s a fun technique, and you’ll be able to get most of this quilt done in this all day class. Supply List for the class includes tips to help you select fabric for the quilt and Quilters Connection has identified bolts of fabric suitable for this quilt.

BEGINNING EMBROIDERY

Let’s create a basket and blooming flowers while you learn 18 embroidery stitches. You will be inspired with color and design and have time to practice what you have learned. BLAZING FINGERS - 2 FOR THE PRICE OF 1!

These strips produce two 50” quilts which are the exact opposite of each other. No seams to match. Make one for you and one to give away. We will sew 8 identical 22” tall strata units. (Hint: Check out the Christmas fabrics NOW to make Christmas Tree Skirts for next year.)

CATHEDRAL WINDOWS		    
Eliane Bailey  2 four hr sessions $45 Inter/Adv
This is the most intriguing of all patchwork designs. It appeared at the Chicago World Fair in U.S in 1930. It can be worked on anywhere. Made with no batting, no quilting to give a three dimensions effect. The effect is achieved by folding squares of fabric and inserting small squares of contrasting fabrics of your choice.

DAHLIA QUILT BLOCK

The Classic Dahlia Quilt Block pattern has been traced back to the 30’s. The techniques used to make the 8 pointed star with puffy flower petals is done by hand and machine piecing with applique centers.

EASY PAPER PIECING

Learn simple paper piecing techniques. We will discuss methods, products, and make a Christmas ornament to take home. It’s never too early to start making Christmas gifts. Kit required $15.00.

FRACTURED QUILTS		    
Kelly Edwards 1 four hr session $35 Beg/Inter/Adv
Learn how to make a photo image or fabric repeat more interesting by “fracturing” it. Use this technique to slice more than one copy of your image on fabric into strips and sew them back together to create an image similar to what you would see in a fractured mirror. It’s a great technique for panels, landscapes, flowers, and more. This is a fun and easy project! Kit Fee $20.00 payable to the teacher.

MACHINE QUILTING 		   
Sharon Wilhelm  One 6 1/2 hour session  $35 Beg/Int
So many tops and so little time! Machine quilting can be quicker than hand quilting and still beautiful. Battings and basting as well as straight line and free motion are taught. We will work on a muslin sandwiched sample and then quilt a little Pre-Printed Holiday Wreath Mini-Whole Cloth quilt. You must be user friendly with your machine and a walking foot and darning foot are required.

MAYAN SUN

Join us and have fun making this dramatic and colorful paper-pieced quilt. It’s easy enough for a first-time paper-piecing project, but challenging enough to keep an experienced paper-piecer interested. Make the suns in all one color, in all different colors, or as shown in five different colors…it’s up to you.

ONE BLOCK WONDER		    
Kelly Edwards  Two 4 hour sessions  $45 Int/Adv
Use this combination stack-and-whack/kaleidoscope technique to make a quilt out of one fabric and one type of block. Depending on the fabric you use, the quilt can turn out to be dramatic or subtle, but it will always be surprise. The size of the quilt will depend on the size of the repeats in the fabric. Class Supply List included tips to help you choose fabrics for a One-Block Wonder. The shop has labeled some bolts of fabric good for the project.

Fusible Applique Technique and Appliquilting

This is to teach you the tricks of fusible products and appliquilting. Just doing the center snowman block finishes 16” x 16”. Add the borders and finishes 24” x 24”. Make each one into a wall hanging or put them together and make a quilt. (There will be 12 in the series.)

Block of the Month Rules beginning 2010

We have been experiencing a delay in picking up of blocks of the month. Due to lack of storage space, it will be necessary to leave a credit card number when signing up for Blocks of the Month. When the kits are cut one week before the block is due out, your credit card will be charged, your kit marked paid and ready for pick up. If these accumulate for 3 months and not picked up, we will package these up, charge your credit card with shipping and handling and mail them out to you.

Setting Kit $85.50 Can pick up in the11 and/or 12th month

CLASS POLICIES

  • Full class fee is required to hold your place in class.

  • Minimum number of students is three. Beginning, Intermediate, & Advanced quilting minimum is six.

  • Lunch: You will need to bring a sack lunch if your class covers a lunch hour.

  • Supply list will be given upon registration

  • Refunds will be made until 7 days prior to class date.

  • Please NO CHILDREN in classes

  • Please turn off your cell phones while in class as a courtesy to our teachers and other students.

  • You may sign up for classes over the phone. We accept all major credit cards.
